Parish Membership
Who We Are
St. Matthew the Apostle Church is a diverse Roman Catholic community empowered by the Spirit of God, formed by His Word, and nourished by the Eucharist. We are called to bear witness to the Gospel through stewardship, hospitality, and service.
We are a faith community of the Roman Catholic tradition. Our community is made up of people of many ages, races, ethnic and social backgrounds. Founded on April 23, 1952 the parish community of St. Matthew continues to be a community of people who seek to worship and serve God through prayer and service. We are a stewardship community. This means that we seek to share our time, talent, and treasure with our parish community. Through our stewardship we seek to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ alive in our hearts and in the hearts of others. Our parish provides many rich experiences of worship at our five weekend Masses and other special liturgical celebrations. Through many parish organizations, associations and ministries, opportunities for service are provided to people of all ages.
Membership
Membership in our parish is open to all Catholics who reside within our borders as well as others who wish to worship with us and support our mission. All adult Catholics should officially register as members of the parish in which they reside. Registration is a condition for admission to our Religious Formation program and reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, First Penance, First Eucharist, Confirmation and Marriage. Being registered for at least one month as an active parishioner is required before we can testify to your eligibility to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. Please contact Deacon Frank Yuhas at the Parish Office, (732) 985-5063, to arrange an appointment to register or email him at Frank@StMatthewtheApostle.com.
Young adults over the age of 21 should register independently of their parents. Please notify the Parish Office of any changes in name, address, marital status or if you are leaving the Parish.
