St. Matthew HSA
The St. Matthew School Home School Association (HSA) works to provide exciting learning programs and fun activities for our students.
The HSA provides hospitality at many school and parish events such as the Stewardship Retreats for Confirmation candidates and their parents, a Graduation Breakfast, and events during Catholic School Week. Community- building events are hosted by the HSA along with the Father’s Club, such as the annual Breakfast & Pictures with Santa and the Halloween Party.
The HSA’s fundraising events allow them provide science assemblies and animal development projects, such as hatching chicks from eggs in the PreK classrooms. They have provided funds for clasroom supplies, field trips, and science equipment. Funds have been raised through their the annual Tricky Tray Auction, the Plasma TV Raffle, Market Day, and Walk for Computers/Library. The Scholastic Book Fair, Christmas Wreath Sale, Valentine Candy Sale, Gertrude Hawk, and Mother’s Day Plant Sale are seasonal staples.
The HSA shares with the community through the Social Concerns and Spirituality committees. The HSA helps replenish the supplies of the St. James food pantry, and sponsors the “Soup-er Bowl Collection” where cans of soup and money are collected. The Social Concerns committee has coordinated a group of parents and students to prepare and serve a home cooked meal for the residents of the Ozanam Shelter. Our Spirituality Committee prepares a Wall of Remembrance every November, so that the children can remember their deceased loved ones. It also has provided Advent activities for the children, and other activities which help the children to live their faith.
