The Saint Matthew Marriage Prep Team strives to bring attention to the meaning and value of marriage by fostering an understanding that sacramental marriage extends beyond the wedding day.
We do this by establishing a relationship between Catholic values and beliefs and contemporary life with presentations on communication, family life, conflict resolution and money management.
“To live faithfully in a marriage requires humility, trust, compromise, communication, and a sense of humor.” (Follow the Way of Love, USCCB)
“Love does not consist of gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction.” (Antoine De Saint-Exuprey)
Marriage Prep sessions are presented twice a year by a team of volunteer married couples who help prepare engaged couples for the sacrament of Matrimony by sharing their faith and life experiences with the intention of enabling engaged couples to become more aware of their sacramental responsibilities in marriage.
“Love is not simply a feeling, but a decision.” (Marriage Encounter Principle)
“A successful marriage is one in which you fall in love many times – always with the same person.” (D. W. McLaughlin)
If you have been married three or more years in a Catholic ceremony and are practicing Catholics, consider becoming a Marriage Prep Team couple. You and your spouse will work with engaged couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. We enjoy a true team spirit and in addition to the two sessions, we meet informally at times to bond and discuss improving our ministry.
For information, please contact the Parish Office at (732) 985-5063.
“I once thought marriage took just two to make a go. But I am convinced it takes the Lord also. And not one marriage fails where Christ is asked to enter. As lovers come together with Jesus Christ at the center; in homes where Christ is first it is obvious to see, those unions really work, for Marriage still takes Three” (Author Unknown)
Engaged couples may register for the St. Matthew Marriage Preparation program by contacting either Fr. George or Fr. Alphonus at the Parish Office.
